Remove the electrical connector 1 at the range sensor 4. Install the battery and battery tray. Install the electrical connectors 1, 2 and 4 at the shifter. A re-manufactured transmission also comes with a : three years compared to 90 days for a rebuilt transmission. Remove transmission and torque converter from vehicle. Install the fluid filter oil pan bolts and tighten to 6 N.
It is important for the rebuild technician to pay close attention to parts differences between Generation 1 and 2. Install the center stack top cover 1 back. Install the valve body oil pan bolts and tighten to 6 N. Remove the remote pinion 1 and the remote pinion cover 2 from the case. Install pump and gasket to transmission.
Use Staking Tool 9721 and stake the new nut. Leave out upper disc 2 , until snap ring is installed. Remove the center stack cover 1. Disconnect the solenoid pack connector at the transmission. The reverse clutch drives the front sun gear.
Install the bolts 1 holding the power steering lines 2 and tighten to 10 N. Support the transaxle with a floor jack. Install the Bearing Retainer Assembly Remover 9908 1 onto the low clutch 2. Remove the bolts 1 at the remote pinion cover 2. The final drive consists of the remote pinion gear, a ring gear, and a conventional differential assembly. Install cooler bypass valve 1 with O-ring end towards rear of case. Install the park pawl shaft 1.
Disconnect the electrical connector 2 at the crankshaft position sensor 3. Most applications will provide a manual shift mode function for both smooth driving without shift shock, and enjoyable driving with manual ratio selection. Using Gear Puller L-4407A 1 and Thrust Button 6055 3 remove output shaft transfer gear 2 and select shim. Remove the bolts 2 holding the heater lines. Install the detent spring 2. Install input speed sensor 1 into case. Install input speed sensor 1 into case.
The shifter gate pin 1 hits the blocking arm 3 and is prevented from moving from park. Install the clamp plate bolts and tighten to 6 N. Remove the oil filter seal 1 at the case. Remove the electrical connector 1 at the valve body 2. Raise the vehicle on the hoist.
Not sure if the clicking sound is related to that or not. Remove the fasteners 1 and the Front Sound Damper Cover 2. Install the selectable shim 3 , transfer gear 2 and the transfer gear nut. Unplug the electrical connector at the transfer shaft sensor 3.
Install the clip to the valve body oil pan. Connect the electrical connectors 1, 2 to the pressure control solenoid and line pressure sensors. Once it was replaced, there was a fluid fill and quick learn procedure that had to be done in the shop. Install the set screw 1 for the park pawl shaft and tighten to 1 N. Remove the detent spring 2.
Remove the differential cover 1. Remove the bolt 2 at the ground cable 3. Remove the clamp plate bolts and clamp plate. Remove the battery and battery tray. Remove the front pump bolts 1.
