The score by Mark Watters is just brilliant, and deserves a mention. Aladdin's story picks up where the original movie left off. Cassim meets with Jasmine, Genie and the Sultan, and they immediately take a liking to Aladdin's father. Aladdin finally gets to meet his father, but of course this wasn't exactly what he was expecting, maybe he was expecting a Ward Cleaver type of guy, but hey, this is Aladdin after all. Genie and Iago help them reconcile, and Jasmine agrees to give Iago a chance. Meanwhile, in the desert, Iago escapes from Jafar's lamp and, tired of being taken for granted by Jafar, refuses to heed Jafar's demands to free him.
This movie has a coherent plot, which is, you know, strange for a Disney sequel. The artwork for this film is way better than in The Return of Jafar. I love these movies and was so excited to find this set and so was heartbroken when I got a fraudulent copy. With Williams on board, all recordings and animation footage of as the Genie was scrapped, and all of the Genie's scenes were rewritten to fit Williams' comic style. Had top quality writers and voice actors.
Well they don't measure up to the originals, but they do the best they can do. At the top of 90's Disney animation boom. Aladdin knows his future is being married to Jasmine but can't remember most of his past. When Aladdin and Jasmine are about to do it, the forty thieves intrude and wreck the Palace and the King of Thieves tries to steal a gold stick containing an Oricle. Inside this staff is an oracle, which can come out and answer one question! Some may say it was stolen from 'The Last Crusade' and I'd have to agree. So happy these are coming out, would have loved digital copies of both but guess we can count that out since they are being released as a 2-Movie Collection. I commend the Disney company for making her a strong, supportive companion to Aladdin without making her appear to be a damsel in distress.
I don't care if he was over done or not, he was very funny and vital to the movie. Impressed with the animation dailies, then-Disney chairman allowed for the first half to be animated in Australia while the climax was animated in Japan. Upon discovering him, he finds that his dad is the leader of a gang of thieves. They were exclusive for two months, so it's reasonable to assume they could receive a national release by Christmas. Aladdin follows the thieves to their hideout on Mount Sesame and reunites with his father Cassim, the King of Thieves, who is surprised to see his own son again after not seeing him for so long. Aladdin persuades Cassim to accompany him back to Agrabah, where he is welcomed by Jasmine, the Genie, and the Sultan, though only the Genie is made aware of Cassim's true identity.
Why give Disney more money lol. With Jafar gone, Iago is accepted into the palace, but Aladdin ultimately declines the Sultan's offer to become the vizier, instead opting to see the world with Jasmine, much to Iago's chagrin. Aladdin is wishing that his father voiced by John Rhys-Davies could witness this day. The songs are quite good, and the characters are really quite fun. In the story, Aladdin goes in search of his father. Personally I wish Disney would release Aladdin: The Series with this release.
There's a grand party in Agrabah to celebrate the marriage of Princess Jasmine and Aladdin. The result is a very, very decent soundtrack!. Thank you for making it a rather inexpensive set. For instance, when the 40 thieves raided Aladdin and Jasmine's wedding in the beginning, the Genie could have stopped all of them and sent them all to jail. You lose more sounds in Blu-ray version.
