Like I said before, it had nothing to do with the first movie at all. Well that's what the people behind this movie must have thought. Compelled to abduct three teenage girls led by the willful, observant Casey, Kevin reaches a war for survival among all of those contained within him — as well as everyone around him — as the walls between his compartments shatter apart. Produced by the celebrated Ghosthouse Pictures 30 Days of Night, Drag Me To Hell and penned by Todd Farmer the screenwriter behind the 2009 remake of My Bloody Valentine , this is one hayride best not taken alone. But it was still an ok movie to watch.
But still I have to ask. A frightening entity with a mysterious attachment to their mother, Sophie, has reemerged. Out of the blue, the life of John changes: the crows die; the pump works again irrigating the land; and the banker responsible for the closure has an accident and dies. The Messengers 2: The Scarecrow is neither a sequel as the title says, nor is it a prequel to the movie The Messengers. Also, at the end, there's a dead body in the barn and the family just walks away, arm in arm as if everything is all over. No hurry since the guy is already dead? He goes to the police station, but Detective Lynn Hadley does not give much attention to him and discredits his statement. Desperate to save his crops, a farmer Norman Reedus places a mysterious scarecrow in his fields only to discover that with pure evil.
Cinematographer Justin McCarthy keeps a steady hand as he captures the silent fear that begins to grow as Hopkins uncovers the dark horror that is Brackenmore. On the next morning, Leon discovers that the woman is missing. Though Kevin has evidenced 23 personalities to his trusted psychiatrist, Dr. I am a huge fan and wanted to see him outside of his Daryl Dixon character in The Walking Dead. Messengers 2: The Scarecrow 2009 The family man farmer John Rollins is stressed with his financial situation: the crows and the lack of irrigation are destroying his crop of corn; the bank is near closure of his mortgage; he does not have credit to fix the water pump or to buy seeds; and his marriage is in crisis and his wife Mary is giving too much attention to her friend Tommy.
It works, it doesn't just get rid of the crows it kills them all. Despite that, this movie was ok, even as a standalone movie. The longer Kate stays in Brackenmore, the more she begins to realize that the eccentricities of its self-protective residents, may be more ominous than she first thought and the secluded family estate is harboring a dark and ancient secret. His police cruiser is still in the yard. A man, his wife and son live on a farm, but he's in financial trouble, and the guy from the bank threatens foreclosure.
However, he feels that his land is possessed by something evil that is threatening his beloved family. To top it off, the corn is dying. Out of the blue, the life of John changes: the crows die; the pump works again irrigating the land; and the banker responsible for the closure has an accident and dies. During the night, the upset Leon decides to wander on the streets taking pictures with his camera, and he follows three punks down to the subway station; when the gang attacks a young woman, Leon defends her and the guys move on. But it also kills anyone that gets in the way of the farmer's plans to prosper. However, his neighbor Jude Weatherby visits him, gives a six-pack of beer to the abstemious John and convinces him to put the scarecrow in the cornfield. Professional production values and acting.
What I think is that this was supposed to be a stand alone movie but some big shot executive thought it was a good idea to slap The Messengers title on it for whatever reason. It's a perfectly acceptable B-movie popcorn flick and nothing more. A descent into madness similar to The Shining is at the core of this horror tale. But the father's personality starts changing, and people start dying in terrible ways, including the loan officer. Not too bad of a movie, I just got tired of watching it play out. If it wasn't for Riehle's participation, I'd probably recommend skipping this film.
As some reviewers already mentioned, the scarecrow creature started out in the movie as just that, a skinny, poorly put together scarecrow. However, he feels that his land is possessed by something evil that is threatening his beloved family. Norman Reedus did a good job as the lead and there were parts that did scare me, despite the goofy final battle with the scarecrow. This movie kept me watching all the way through. However, he feels that his land is possessed by something evil that is threatening his beloved family. Lo and behold, the corn is born again and the crop thrives. Norman Reedus has the starring role, but Richard Riehle steals the show.
That movie about a family moving into an old farm house that's haunted by the ghosts of a murdered family? However, his neighbor Jude Weatherby visits him, gives a six-pack of beer to the abstemious John and convinces him to put the scarecrow in the cornfield. And for icing on the cake, the ending as a prequel contradicts the first movie. Zak quickly learns how to manipulate the device and he and his quick-witted and beautiful new friend, Francesca, start to have some real fun. McGrath , a mysterious young local who helps her to rediscover her long-neglected roots and forget about the anxieties of her life in London. When John accidentally discovers a hidden compartment in the barn, he finds a creepy scarecrow but his son Michael makes him promise to destroy it.
From the opening scenes of a fateful car crash to the shocking ending Brackenmore weaves its ways under your skin shifting between classic horror to the mysteries of the occult. When John accidentally discovers a hidden compartment in the barn, he finds a creepy scarecrow but his son Michael makes him promise to destroy it. I'm not saying the first movie was bad, in fact it's one of the few movies starring Kristen Stewart that I can actually tolerate, but I don't think making this set in the same universe as that movie was going to be either successful or marketable. He hangs it up hoping it'll scare the crows that are eating his corn crop. It's about a farmer with financial woes whose about to loose his farm. I might feel better about the ending had the second first Messenger picked up when the family called someone about the body in their barn, but it doesn't. He actually looked like a guy in a black body suit with grape vines tied around his arms.
I was not disappointed in his performance, however, his supporting cast were horrible. A nice creepy atmosphere is created with the rickety farm and decrepit cornfield. Unimaginable terror grows in this chilling prequel to the horror hit, The Messengers. Norman's character, John, is the only one I liked. However, his neighbor Jude Weatherby visits him, gives a six-pack of beer to the abstemious John and convinces him to put the scarecrow in the cornfield. Another horror movie about another evil scarecrow.
