If it does then you need the Transmission Relay, it is located in the engine compartment. Did you complete the replacement? We are not responsible for any actions you take on your vehicle. My wife was researching it a little today and discovered that the 08 M5 tranny has been known to have issues. Considering this car has been cared for and didn't appear to have any suspect wiring harnesses, damaged or exposed wires upon visual inspection and the transmission has always been smooth as glass shifting and other than carting around 3 small kids has not had any undo stress added to it like hauling or unruly driving I felt pretty confident that the solenoid A was in fact the culprit. But, even changing Solenoid B didn't do anything.
I was too late, but at least I wasn't insulting. Best to go to mazda dealer to get a new one and have mazda program it and install it. The separate tcm doesn't require programming but is programmable for updates. I read this thread probably over a dozen times in the past few weeks trying to diagnose this with my mechanic. Guess I could do it, but the headaches involved.
It did not need a rebuild. Refer to in Wiring Systems for complete circuit distribution. Other associated codes include P0750, P0751, P0752, and P0754 trouble codes. . Well, I'm hoping it wan't a waste of time or money at this point, but he proceeds to inform me that with that amount of particulates it is more than likely the torque converter. Install in the reverse order of removal. And every condition one is going to be done by somebody by hand.
This requires the mechanic to remove the transmission and partially disassemble. What are the symptoms of the P0753 code? I could tell immediately when she called me that the car was not shifting, in her case into gears 4 or 5. Most fluid manufacturers list the makes and models their products are compatible with right on the bottle and certainly on their website. They only want your money!! As I mentioned before, the magnet in the tranny pan had so much on it it looked like a flower. I honestly can't decipher what the issue here is, some people are saying electrical and others replace the solenoid. As long as the fluid looks ok and doesnt small burnt, i would change the solenoids and see what happens, its a very common problem. Refer to in Engine Controls.
The fluid looked like motor oil it was so dark, and the magnet in the bottom of the pan looked like a flower. It almost seems like a crappy computer needing rebooting every day to make it work temporarily. My question is, what type of driving conditions and what oil quality is this in consideration of? How much should I expect to fork over for a new or rebuilt auto transmission? I am thinking about dropping the pan and swapping Solenoid A with B or C since they appear to be the same. I bet you Aaron are going to think, 'well duh' on this one ; , but given my symptoms and description they found nothing wrong visibly. It could have been the actual Selenoid B. Did you change your transmission fluid recently? Any help is so so much appreciated, I feel way in over my head! This is what I have done per dealership recommendations. What might have to be done next is to put a volt meter on the command wire and see what the voltage is doing.
Bought a 2007 Mazda 3s 2. Clear the codes it shifts normal until the light comes on, which is quick. Thanks again for any help, I really appreciate it! So I went and pulled the codes again to rule out any changes and yep, still the same P0753. It did not need a rebuild. Its right over the transmission and was pretty expensive when I changed it. Starting in 08 the tcm is a separate unit that bolts to the top of the trans under the battery box.
Turned out to be the P0753 code. And by the way, this is a great forum compared to some oft the other ones that I posted this question. It could also be related to the front passenger mount again the shift shock issue. That fault code is purely electrical in cause, so my best guess is that you have a marginal connection somewhere and the cold is causing everything to shrink a bit, including the components where the connection is marginal, and the connection is broken. Previous owner never changed the fluid till I got a hold of it and I changed it at 100k if memory serves me right. Cleaned everything up real meticulously, got the gasket in place, sealed and tightened and filled back up what was dropped with the pan approx 3. Also for those wanting to change the filter and fluid, the job is quite simple, 20 bolts off and everything comes down.
Not positive on how often tranny fluid was changed, but it looks brownish. I would replace this solenoid and it will most likely clear the code for the P0753 or since you are going to be in there you can just replace both. Where'd you get the '08 service manual? The fluid is not red but slightly tan- to brown. So I went and pulled the codes again to rule out any changes and yep, still the same P0753. Transmission harness will have multiple ground wires.
I didn't change any of the solenoids. I will say I have yet to replace a solenoids of any kind on this trans for shifting concerns. Just wanted to say thanks, and document my solution here. If you drive hard high rpm and in hot climate, it will break down the oil sooner and wear out the additives sooner. I am a tech at a dealer. Taking the 5 in today for a tranny rebuild.
Um nah I think gonna take my chances with the rebuild and have a better guarantee. These lines of code differences can damage things. Disconnect the negative battery cable. I haven't driven it very far since the lights have come on, hopefully a tranny fluid change will do the trick. I will update this thread as soon as I replace the 2 solenoids.
