Installed the left and right rear axle shafts and secured to the hub. In the photo below you can see that one plug has a magnet on it and the other doesn't. Really like the Amsoil Products too, their hand pump is a must when dealing with their fluids, since the bottle necks seem to be different than standard. So I assume not knowing the improper towing occurred, they assumed it was wear and tear and moved on.
They must be replaced under warranty!!. Install the transmission coupling assembly to the rear differential carrier cover. All you need is a seal replacement if it is leaking from the casing. I have considered trading mine in on something else but I can't find anything I'd like better. Here's a pretty good diagram the Toyota dealer gave me.
It depends on the kind of Matrix that you have. Financially, it's obvious that the best solution is to hang onto the beast. First thing to make things easier to work on. I bought my oil from amsoil. According to the manual, when towing the car must be in neutral and recommend that rear wheels be lifted of the ground. I think they jiggled something with my fuel pressure sensor when they were mucking around. Installed the rear brake drums and wheels. Thanks for the tip, I found this. Next up Transfer case being they use the same oil it makes life easier.
I can't find a used diff anywhere though. They're replacing it under warranty. Having it on ramps for the whole drain, might leave some in the case, toward the front of the diff. If you can then you can remove the lower drain plugLet it drain, it will take a while because it's a very thick heavy oil. Had the transmission fluid changed also having the mechanic look for metal shaving with none found. Found that there are several bearings worn and have caused damage to the gears. Faster I go, higher the pitch gets. Hint: Tape the screwdriver tip Âbefore use.

Using a screwdriver, remove the rear differential dust deflector. It will be more difficult to fill the differential if you've only got it raised in the rear. Just make sure you have enough differential fluid to replentish what you drain out.

I backed the vibe up on ramps, putting the car up on jack stands will do. N … ow just push it in until it is flush with timing chain cover. The one with out the magnet it the fill plug. Install the rear differential carrier assembly in the vehicle. Now buy a good silicone sealant and put it around new seal clean seal mounting surface first. The car never made that noise before. Possible, or am I smoking crack?.
